Major Job responsibility includes facilitating villagers to form institutions and processes for development of their villages. In BIJ program, I am able to empathize with the situation of rural communities’. It gives me an opportunity to interact with rural communities, understanding them, living some part of me with them. 

My course in rural management at IIHMR prepared me for professional challenges in the rural development sector and taught me the values of centrality of community participation and ownership in rural development processes.

The rural management education at IIHMR has been the backbone of my professional experience. Apart from developing my skills and competencies required in this field it has made me realize the importance of linking theoretical knowledge with practical experience in the field.

Education in rural management contributed very much in developing in-depth knowledge and provided me with glasses to see real perspective of rural development scenario. 

Sustainability resides in ownership and participation of community and to make it possible or to facilitate it, rural development professionals are really needed for effective implementation of rural development schemes. MBA in Rural Management at IIHMR is a course that seeks to carve a middle ground between conventional management education and development studies. Regional Training of State Level Master Trainers (SLMTs) on Revised Management Information System in Integrated Child Development Scheme at IIHMR Jaipur from January 9th to 11th

  • A Regional Training of State Level Master Trainers (SLMTs) on Revised Management Information System (MIS) in Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) was conducted at IIHMR Jaipur from 9th – 11th January 2013. The training was organized by Ministry of Women & Child Development; Govt. of India with support of Technical Assistance Agency, IDA assisted ICDS System Strengthening & Nutrition Improvement Project (ISSNIP). The participating states included Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, J & K, Uttar Pradesh and Chandigarh. 

  • An extensive revision of the Management Information System (MIS) in ICDS Programme, particularly the registers and reports used at the Anganwadi Centre (AWC) and block levels was undertaken by the Government of India. These have since been finalized and are now ready for roll-out across the country. The current training was the last in series of four conducted across the country with the objective of creating state level master trainers to impart the training on new MIS in their respective states to execute the roll out.

Students Rate Highly Learning Culture at IIHMR

Organization culture of the education and research institutions is critical for their image and performance.  A survey of IIHMR students’ perceptions on core values or ethos viz, openness, confrontation, trust, authenticity, proaction, autonomy, collaboration and experimentation was conducted.  Over 100 students of the postgraduate program in hospital and health management, and pharmaceutical management were administered an HRD instrument, OCTAPACE. The students reported that IIHMR was very high core values of organizational culture. The mean scores for openness were 20% higher than standard normal mean scores based on the other organizations. So were the mean scores on other important attributes such as Trust, and Proaction. Collaboration and Experimentation were other core values which achieved more than normal standard mean scores. Confrontation and Authenticity, the other core values which were as good as standard mean scores.

The students felt reported that faculty was trustworthy and competent that allowed confronting them with straight and tough questioning. The students appreciated the culture of openness and trust between them and the faculty. Experimenting with innovative approaches of teaching ensured incorporating contemporary knowledge and skills.

These core values a culture have enable IIHMR reach the top of the ranking in hospital and health management education in India, and recognition at the international levels.

Students of JHSPH/IIHMR MPH cohort-1 Visit Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health

Students of JHSPH/IIHMR MPH cohort-1 along with two of the faculty members Dr. Tanjul Saxena and Dr. Monika Choudhary, are attending the orientation of Master of Public Health at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, Baltimore, USA from January 2nd till January 20th, 2014. Upon reaching there, the students were welcomed by Dr. Michael J. Klag, MD, MPH, the Dean of JHSPH. The students are attending the programme with other students of the department of International Health at JHSPH.

The primary purpose of the visit of the students of IIHMR to Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health is to attend a course of 4 credit points in the domain of Problem Solving in Public Health. The sessions for the same have been arranged for the students.
